My first visit to Market Harborough and sat outside St Dionysius church I heard a peregrine calling. I saw a tiercel who then called to another bird which turned out to be the falcon with prey. She flew to a nearby building with it and would not let him share.

Yaxley’s finest falcon was at St Peter’s church this morning. She flew off and 10 minutes later returned with a pigeon. She called for the tiercel but he didn’t turn up so she ate the prey.

Leicester City has its own pair of peregrines that now watch over Richard III’s resting place. They had their first watch of the year although it was cancelled at such short notice nobody knew it had been cancelled!

I caught Stamford’s tiercel on St Mary’s church – he was sizing up hunting opportunities and then he went for a pigeon lower down on the church – he failed!

Chimneys of industrial sites are great places for peregrines – would you have spotted this bird? I nearly missed it!

Dropped into Stamford just after sunrise. No sign of either peregrine until I noticed the tell-tale sign of feathers – the tiercel was busy eating prey on one of the gargoyles. In this video I like how we don’t see him directly rather we see his shadow on the church.

The Yaxley pair – unsigned falcon and Stamford born VJP tiercel were busy sharing prey today

Peregrines often swallow small stones to help them digest their food and like the indigestible parts of their prey that they swallow they bring these up. I believe this tiercel is bringing up a small stone rather than a pellet.

Yaxley’s tiercel again looking fantastic. I love this shot (composite to get plane and bird in focus) of the peregrine, cockerel weather vane and jet plane.
